The IDEAL
Full Scale Scanner FSS8300 DSP provides affordable, high speed, very high
resolution scanning for computer capture of wide format engineering or
scientific documents for drawing conversion, CAD, archive storage and
retrieval, or GIS applications demanding fine-line capture. The compact,
desktop scanner can efficiently rasterize drawings up to 36 inches wide
(E-Size), on 40 inch wide media, scanning drawings directly Fast SCSI 2
interfaces on UNIX/Motif and through adapters on most PC computer types,
AT/ISA PCI, or PS2. The FSS 18300 DSP is part of a sixth generation family
of superior products for scanning documents, including the FSS4300,
FSS12300, and FSS 8300 DSP scanners, all supported by the CADImage series
of software products. CADImage/Scan controls the scanners, and also
provides conversion, view, and plot tools.
High
Performance Scanning
The FSS8300
DSP offers the highest true resolution in its price class and selectable
sampled resolution;1800, 800, 600, 500, 400, 300, 200, 150, 100, 75, 50, 25
dpi, and a physical resolution setting to match user application
requirement and system storage capabilities. The FSS 18300 scans drawings
up to 36 inches wide, with length limited only by computer file size.
Offering outstanding throughput, it scans a typical E-Size CAD drawing
into industry standard formats in 10 seconds at 400 dpi
resolution.
Automatic
Load Features
The FSS18300
DSP Scanner has automated the scanning process with Auto-load, Auto-scan,
and Auto-size features.
- Auto-load allows for automatic grabbing of the paper when
inserted in the scanner.
- Auto-scan allows for automatic 2-D adaptive cleanup for poor
quality drawings in order to produce clean, crisp scans.
- Auto-size allows for automatic detection of the width of the
drawing inserted in the scanner and detects the end of the paper after
the scanning process to eliminate missing a part of the scan because an
incorrect format was chosen. There is an optional Auto-snap feature
which snaps the document to standard ASNI and ISO document
sizes.
Image
Processing
All the DSP
model scanners have despeckling and deskewing capabilities which can be
performed on the fly while scanning. The FSS18300, FSS12300, and FSS8300
DSP Scanners have a new feature for hole repair which is called,
holefilling. This new feature fills in every white hole in a black area
for a cleaner scan. |
